At Psalm68Five Ministries, we are passionate about providing fatherless children with opportunities to experience God's love and find their true identity as His children. Through our partnerships with Christian summer camps like Higher Ground at Lake Louise, we witness incredible stories of transformation and hope. The following story beautifully illustrates the redemptive power of God’s love and the impact of camp on a single mom and her five boys.

Several years ago, in 2018 or 2019, a single mom brought her five energetic boys to our Single Mom Family Camp. Raising them with little or no father presence in their lives, she had her hands full, but the joy on their faces was undeniable. The youngest were twins in grade school, full of boundless energy. Their brother, just a couple of years older, was also in grade school, while the two eldest were navigating junior high or early high school. Living about 40 minutes from camp, this family discovered a welcoming haven where the boys could run free, build friendships, and experience God's fatherly love in a tangible way.

The seeds planted during those initial visits took root. The boys, particularly the younger ones, returned year after year for age-appropriate camps, where they learned about the "father heart of God" toward kids growing up without a dad at home. This family has now been part of Higher Ground at Lake Louise for seven years, and while our calling is simply to sow seeds of God's love and Scripture, every once in a while, we are blessed to witness the harvest—sons and daughters welcomed into His kingdom family.

Fast forward to this summer of 2025. The three youngest boys—the twins and their middle brother—attended our Senior High Camp. The week was profoundly impactful, with inspiring messages, dedicated prayer and journaling time, mentor sessions, and the Holy Spirit moving in their hearts. By week's end, two of them—one of the twins and the middle son—accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and were baptized on the final morning.

But the story doesn't end there. In the intervening years, these three younger boys, who had a different father from their older brothers, learned that their birth father had suffered a terrible accident requiring over two years of rehabilitation. During that time, the Lord touched the father's heart in ways we may never fully know. On the last morning of camp, during our closing worship ceremony with families invited, heaven rejoiced as we witnessed this restored father wrap his arm around his youngest son. Together, they stood singing the worship songs, rocking back and forth with the rest of the campers and staff. It was a beautiful picture of reconciliation—children reunited with a father who is now safe and repentant.

This is what Higher Ground is all about: praying for and facilitating moments where God turns "the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers" (Malachi 4:6). Stories like this remind us of His redemptive power and the vital role camp plays in healing families.

This powerful story from Higher Ground at Lake Louise is a testament to the mission we share at Psalm68Five Ministries: to plant seeds of God’s love in the hearts of fatherless children and to trust Him for the harvest. We are grateful for our partnership with camps that create spaces for transformation, healing, and reconciliation. As we continue to provide camp scholarships and support, we pray for more stories like this, where families are restored, and children discover their identity in Christ. Thank you for supporting our ministry and helping make these life-changing moments possible.
