Wrestling with the loss of a father.

Updated: Sep 14, 2023

Our founder, Bryan Johnson, was a guest on episode #63 "Help! I'm raising fatherless kids" podcast. Lori Apon, the host of the podcast and founder of Perspective Ministries, interviewed Bryan about his experience growing up fatherless and the ministry of Psalm68Five.

If you are not familiar with Bryan's story this is a great chance to hear it.

Here are the show notes from the episode:

In the early stages of grief, an emotional limbo takes place when you are holding on to the hope that this isn’t your story. It’s called denial and shock and often keeps you from wanting to move forward.

For Bryan Johnson, limbo was an unknown reality in the formative years of his life, believing that his dad was a prisoner of the Vietnam War only to learn later that he died serving our country.

God is always at work drawing us to Himself. For Bryan, the Holy Spirit planted the seed that He is a Father to the fatherless.

In this episode, Bryan talks about:

  • The season of dealing with the shame of the loss of Dad, the what-ifs, and questioning if he had what it would take to become a man

  • Releasing the weight of anger

  • Freedom that comes with knowing your identity in Christ

Bryan Johnson is the Founder and Board Chair of Psalm68five Ministries. This ministry serves the fatherless by providing summer camp scholarships, developing and collecting resources that specifically share God’s heart for the fatherless, and by seeking to encourage other ministries in their work with the fatherless. The ministry was started in 2015 as a Christian 501c3 non-profit. For more information, please contact Bryan at Bryan.Johnson@psalm68five.org or at their website atwww.Psalm68five.org.
